ASP Hosting Review - 247host.com

I'd been pretty burnt out by the time I got to 247host.com in April 2015. My 10-year dedicated hosting facility, Immedion, had gone sour in October 2014. Then the place I'd moved to, MyHosting, had been incredibly trouble-laden. Looking at the good reviews, I'd hoped that 247host.com would be the key to improvement. I went with two VPS systems here, each on a one-year contract.

I was concerned when some simple questions to their tech support took a day to answer and they didn't even come back with an actual answer. I'm used to the ten-minute-response of a highly trained team over at Immedion, or at least the chat-quick response even if a bit dim ability of the MyHosting team. Here it was slow and not really helpful. My hope is that I won't really need their tech support and can manage the server myself. With this not being burdened with PLESK, it's a simple, fast machine that I can manage fully on my own.

One down side was hit when, a day-and-a-half into the BellaOnline initial install, I found that the memory I had (4GB) just wasn't holding up the site well. Which was odd, because the specs on this server were exactly the same as the specs on the previous server which also had to juggle PLESK. If anything this one should be running more smoothly.

At this point I'd paid them for two months of hosting for BellaOnline which I hadn't even used yet, because I was making sure the first server was absolutely perfect before trusting these guys enough to move BellaOnline onto them. So they'd gotten two months of money free for no work or bandwidth.

When I asked about kicking BellaOnline's setup up to the next level they quoted to charge me full price even though there was a 30% special active and running and I was buying for a full year. It's not like I was six months into using the system and now needed to upgrade. There was something wrong with the initial spec and I was wanting to make sure this new system I was setting up was robust enough. Heck, I could cancel this account with full money back, start a new one, and get that deal just as easily, since I hadn't even finished setting up the system yet. So just little things like that that gave me a sense they were more out for the quick-buck with low-support, vs building a long term relationship with customers.

And - even better - their stated office address? 8457 Boul. Newman Suite #205 LaSalle QC H8N 0A2 Canada? That's a UPS store. They don't even have a real office, apparently. And there's no information ANYWHERE about who owns this company, beyond the "V KAUSHA" entry at WHOIS.

We shall see how it goes ...
